My Music Video

Image
This is me and my groups second major project that we have worked on together. Looking back I can say that we have improved our skills in media production greatly on a group as well as individual levels compared to our last project. We were able to work better as a group, as well as be more productive with our time. This probably the biggest improvement we made as it allowed us to get so much more done in shorter periods of time. I was able to expand my knowledge personally by using different features of editing I was unfamiliar with and by using different aspects of filming to give myself the best opportunities to learn. We each rotated roles to allow for all of us to learn each part of production better. Acting was my personal favorite role of production as I love being in front of a camera. There is always room for improvement and I would not say my music video was perfect, but it is a testament to how we have improved. Overall I am very proud of what me and my group have put togeth

Final Touches with Editing

Image
Today me and my group finished editing our music video. Although we got most of the editing done for our music video done the day previous, we still had some final touches to add before we could call our music video complete. There were still some visual and sound aspects of the video that could be tweaked, added, or improved before the music video was done. First, we started the day by fixing some of the filters. Some of the filters that were used in the video looked unprofessional and didn’t fit with the overall theme of the video. We took those filters out or changed them which took a little while as we wanted the video to be perfect. Once the filters were fixed though it did make the video look more complete. Next, we fixed the length of the video as the video was about a few second too short. This issue was fixed by bringing back some of the footage that was cropped out to give the story more length and depth. Finally, we edited the sound affect that was used. We messed with the a

Fun Effects and Editing

Today was yet another day of working on the music video. Me and my group had spent the two previous days filming our music video and now it was time to edit the project. Since all of our best clips had been put in a file earlier, it made it a lot easier to edit as we knew exactly what we were looking for. The first step in editing was putting all the clips in the right order according to the storyboard. The order of the scenes was planned out in the storyboard which made it easy to decide which scenes were before or after the others. Luke took the main lead in editing as he was the one who had the software on his computer. After that the music was added to the video. Our song was Pompeii and we put it over the all of the scenes and the video had started to finally come together. Next we removed all other sounds from the video other than the music. I then took lead of shortening the song to make it fit over our short video. Nest we trimmed each clip. Cayden took charge of this as he ha

Another Successful Day of Filming

Image
Today was another day of working on my music video with my group. My group and I gathered once again to finish up the filming of our music video project. Production had began and we had gotten to work. First, my group and I looked back at the footage that had been gathered the day before and decided which parts or scenes needed touch ups or to be redone. Some of the plans for the video had changed so we decided to reshoot some scenes. We got in positions and began to film. We first went back to scene 1 as the acting job by me and Luke looked a little sloppy. The setting was also not right as we had switched the script a little bit and decided for the first scene to take place in a hospital . We decided to shoot the scene in my room and make it look like a hospital. Ely led the way in making the room most resemble a hospital. The setting is important for this scene as it is the scene that the grandpa, or me, dies. Ely and Luke are the members of my family and they are in the room cryin

A Tough Day to Film

Today on December 7th, my group and I decided to begin the filming process. Filming is the most important component of this project and it was important that my group had this time to film so that we could be ahead in the making of our music video. My group and I began by filming scenes 5 and 6 as the weather had been poor for most of the day and the sky had finally cleared. It was necessary for the project that this scene was filmed outside and the rain did not permit this for most of the day. Though as soon as the skies cleared, the filming process had begun. Cayden McTighe was our main camera man and he filmed most of the music video while I was the main actor. In these scenes, my life is being relived as I am getting ready to pass away. Multiple shots and angles were taken for all of the scenes to be safe and ensure that there were backups in case we did not like a certain shot that had looked good beforehand. Personally, I loved being on camera so I did not mind reshooting scenes
