CCR Questions

Creative Critical Reflection 1.       How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?   My product promotes physical activity and hard work. My product promotes physical activity because it is supposed to be used before, during, or after physical activity. My product promotes hard work because in commercials with the product it shows athletes working really hard trying to achieve their goals and drinking Gatorade while doing so. The social message my product represents is that hard work pays off.     2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text? My product engages with audiences by getting them hooked early and keeping them entertained. This was achieved by the introduction of the product early as well as with music. Also, the relation of sports to Gatorade hooks the audience early by showing what the product is made for. Also, people who enjoy watching sports m

Commercial blog: Finally finished

My group and I have finally finished our commercial. For my first commercial, I think we have done a great job, but there is definitely much more I can work on. There is room for improvement but overall, I think our commercial has turned out great. I have learned how to act on a set as well as edit and be part of a production. I have also learned how to work as a team in a production and be productive to get stuff done quicker. I believe I have much more knowledge and experience in filming and production then when I went into the project with and I believe that is the greatest part of the project. Nonetheless, I enjoyed making the project and am proud of the work we have produced.

Editing blog: Finishing touches

Image
On October 13th, I finished editing my commercial. It was almost done from the previous day of editing, but had to add some final touches. This included music and reviewing for a final product. I started off the day by checking over what needed to be done for the rest of the commercial and discussed with my group which roles we would be taking on. I chose to add music for more character and engage the audience. I chose the song lose yourself by Eminem because I thought it matched the theme and vibe of the commercial. I used iMovie to embed the music as a voice over and decreased the volume so that sounds in the commercial could still be heard. I think this greatly improved the overall feel of the commercial and made it more fun and engaging. This was the final step and our group is now finished with our commercial.

Editing Blog: Fun with transitions

Image
On October 12th, me and my group spent our last day to edit. Once all the scenes were lined and up and in order, it was my job to match the timings, work with transitions, and shorten clips. This included matching up clips to make seamless transitions, and use different transitions in some situations which I felt were right or needed. I saw that the all the film taken had added up to a little over 40 seconds, so it was my job to shorten the length down to under 30 seconds. This is what I worked on first. I saw saw clips were a little to long and dragged out such as when I go to kick the ball, so I edited them down so that our film would fit within the time frame. I also lined up scenes with each other by shortening them to create more seamless transitions. Once I had finished this process I saw that our film was around 25 seconds and this was fine with me. I then had fun with some transitions and was done for the day. The rest of my group was tasked with sound editing, music, speed, a

Another day on the field

Image
On October 4th I began on the second day of filming now with the football. I had acted in all the scenes that had not been shot the days previous and added new scenes to help with the plot. The first scene I had gone back to act in was the scene where I kick the ball. I had stepped back into the position I was in the previous scene and ran up to kick the ball. This is where the scene cuts to the next scene. In the next scene it cuts to me running up to the ball at a different angle and kicking it toward the field goal post. I positioned myself differently in every new scene to create a different scene every time from which I can choose which one I like best to get the shots that looked best for the project. For example, in the scene where I am lining up to kick the ball, I had stepped back and lined myself up in about 5 different ways and chose which one I had liked best to give variation. The filming took a total of about an hour and a half. Once I was satisfied with all of our scene

Fun without the football

On Wednesday, the 30th my group began filming the commercial. For my commercial, my group went to the football field to go and kick field goals. I started off by double checking our storyboard to make sure that all the scenes would be matched up correctly. One of my group mates had forgotten the football needed to shoot the scenes, so we decided to shoot the scenes that did not require a football on that day. I was the talent in the commercial so I was the one who would be kicking the ball. We started off by shooting the first scene. In the first scene I was required to hold a Gatorade bottle in my hand, walk into the camera frame, and place the bottle in front of the camera to show the Gatorade logo. In the next scene I took a few steps back and began to line myself up for the kick. After that we had skipped to the final scene as the ones in the middle all required the ball. In the final scene, I walk away from where I just kicked the ball and picked up the Gatorade and began to drin
