Production Blog: Music time

Today, for my short film, me and my group decided that we would dedicate a day to pick out the different songs and music we will be using for our film. Music is important in any good film and therefore we wanted to ensure that we would have music on our film that will enhance the film that much more and fit to our needs. Most of the day was spent browsing through different genres of music and going back to our genre research to see which music typically is used in an action film like ours. Fast paced, high energy songs were typically paired with a film like ours so we took this route when deciding which music would fit best. After finding the kind of music we wanted to stick with, we started picking a couple songs that we liked best and kind of sampled them over what we had envisioned for the rest of our film. After finding a couple possible options, it was then put up to me to reach out to a couple publishing companies to ensure we had the rights to their music for our film. This took a little bit and we are currently waiting to hear back from them. In the meantime, we browsed through some royalty free music that could be used as a backup if we do not get access to our preferred songs. In the end, we gathered a couple backup options and decided to call it a day as we accomplished most of what we wanted to get done. Today was very successful as we completed all we planned to do and even came up with some backup options if things do not go as planned. We are beginning to grow as a group and learning how to work towards each others strengths and I also feel as if I am growing as an individual as well through this project. As soon as we hear back from the publishing companies, we plan to implement the music as soon as possible.
