Production Blog: Filming the Heist

     Today is my final day of filming and I could not be more excited! I have been waiting to film this scene since it was first drawn up in me and my groups story board. This is the third and final scene of my opening scene and I am excited to get it underway. I start the day by getting to my filming location on time and with my group. We are filming at Hamill Tire, Luke's dad's shop, for this scene as it was the closest, we could get to a bank looking location. We start by setting up all of our equipment and set up our lighting and cameras properly. We put our costumes on and get ready to film. Our costumes are dark and shady looking for this scene as we are robbing a bank. As I get set, I go over my lines once more in my head and get ready to go! We start filming the scene and use many action shots to really show how intense the scene is. The scene is fast paced, and we wanted to encapsulate this within our film by using tracking shots at every opportunity. We shot each shot a couple times to ensure we got the best pieces for our film and started to close out. We chose the best shots of the ones we took and put them all into the folder with the rest of our film. I started to pack up my things and got ready to go. Overall, today was very productive and I have finished all my filming! I am so happy with the way all of my scenes have turned out and cannot wait to start editing.

 Star Wars: The Last Jedi The movie that I watched was “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” it is in the Sci-fi genre. During the opening scene, all the people who helped with the production of the movie were included. In this is the casting designers, make-up artist, etc. The way these titles were printed on the opening scene was very subtle. This was good because I saw them, but they did not take my attention away from the background. There were a few different images in the opening scene. These images are not still but slightly moving. These photos are of all planets. This entices me to want to watch the whole movie. The images were all in space and had yellow writing in the background explain. This writing showed the past. As if it is setting up the movie by explaining the devastating things that have happened in the past. This is done extremely well as the images flip from one to one. First Scene-- Opening shot of an old man reading a newspaper in a hospital bed. Second Scene- Old man lowers paper to reveal his face with a sad expression Third Scene- Camera zooms out to show the old man in the hospital bed with his whole family surrounding him Fourth Scene- Close up shot of old man closing his eyes and the camera zooms in towards his closed eyes. Fifth Scene- We enter a flashback where his mom is holding him as a baby. Sixth Scene- Flashback of one of the man's first birthdays. Seventh Scene- Flashback to man playing catch with his father as a kid. Eighth Scene- Flashback of man getting his photo taken on the first day of school. Ninth Scene- Flashback of man holding hands with his future wife. Tenth Scene- Flashback of man getting married. Eleventh Scene- Flashback of man eating a large meal with his whole family. Another day on the field

 On October 4th I began on the second day of filming now with the football. I had acted in all the scenes that had not been shot the days previous and added new scenes to help with the plot. The first scene I had gone back to act in was the scene where I kick the ball. I had stepped back into the position I was in the previous scene and ran up to kick the ball. This is where the scene cuts to the next scene. In the next scene it cuts to me running up to the ball at a different angle and kicking it toward the field goal post. I positioned myself differently in every new scene to create a different scene every time from which I can choose which one I like best to get the shots that looked best for the project. For example, in the scene where I am lining up to kick the ball, I had stepped back and lined myself up in about 5 different ways and chose which one I had liked best to give variation.
