Production Blog: First Day of Editing

Today, me and my group began the editing process for our final task opening sequence. After coming back from a nice long spring break, we thought it would be a good idea to get back to work and start the editing process early for our project. In total, we have filmed 3 scenes of our opening scene so far and the goal today was to piece these together to make them transition properly and maybe begin to integrate sound effects and maybe start to add our music as well. We are using iMovie initially to edit our project but we are thinking of moving over to a more advanced software or editing technology later in the editing process. We started by adding all 3 scenes in order and trying to create a smooth transition between them that would not cause confusion. We achieved this simply by just making sure there was no delay between the scenes and ensuring that it was as seamless as a transition as possible. Next, we went over parts of scenes that we thought sound effects would help with the scene. We used a running sound effect as if the actors were running very hard on a hard wood floor to make the running seem more urgent among many other spots that we thought could use them. Lastly, we tried playing around with music and putting it over some of our earlier scenes. We could not really seem to get it to work though today and we began to run out of time so we decided that we would try and mess around with it later. Overall though, I think it was a very productive day and I am glad we got started on the editing process early.
