Production Blog: Final Day of Editing

    Today I plan on finishing editing my film. The past two days of editing have been fairly productive, so I do not have a lot to do. I do still plan on piecing some final things together that may have been missed. I start by smoothing out transitions between clips as I do not believe that they were as sharp as they could be. I also noticed parts of the film where our voices were being diminished by other noises and tried to sort that out. I did that by layering the sounds and bringing out our voices over the rest of the noise. This worked well and I saw major improvement. This definitely helps make our voices clearer and makes the film a lot more pleasing from an audio standpoint. I keep looking around for errors that I could have possibly made editing but to be honest I was growing quite tired and had spent quite some time today trying to piece together these edits. I plan on completely finishing my film in the next go and looking at it now, it does not look like a whole lot needs to be done. I am beyond pleased with how my film has turned out and will be reviewing it in intense detail next time around to make those minor changes that could make a great impact. I am glad I have finished the editing as I believe it is one of my greatest weaknesses but am beyond proud for what I have done. I plan to finish strong next week!

 Star Wars: The Last Jedi The movie that I watched was “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” it is in the Sci-fi genre. During the opening scene, all the people who helped with the production of the movie were included. In this is the casting designers, make-up artist, etc. The way these titles were printed on the opening scene was very subtle. This was good because I saw them, but they did not take my attention away from the background. There were a few different images in the opening scene. These images are not still but slightly moving. These photos are of all planets. This entices me to want to watch the whole movie. The images were all in space and had yellow writing in the background explain. This writing showed the past. As if it is setting up the movie by explaining the devastating things that have happened in the past. This is done extremely well as the images flip from one to one. First Scene-- Opening shot of an old man reading a newspaper in a hospital bed. Second Scene- Old man lowers paper to reveal his face with a sad expression Third Scene- Camera zooms out to show the old man in the hospital bed with his whole family surrounding him Fourth Scene- Close up shot of old man closing his eyes and the camera zooms in towards his closed eyes. Fifth Scene- We enter a flashback where his mom is holding him as a baby. Sixth Scene- Flashback of one of the man's first birthdays. Another day on the field

 On October 4th I began on the second day of filming now with the football. I had acted in all the scenes that had not been shot the days previous and added new scenes to help with the plot. The first scene I had gone back to act in was the scene where I kick the ball. I had stepped back into the position I was in the previous scene and ran up to kick the ball. This is where the scene cuts to the next scene. In the next scene it cuts to me running up to the ball at a different angle and kicking it toward the field goal post. I positioned myself differently in every new scene to create a different scene every time from which I can choose which one I like best to get the shots that looked best for the project. For example, in the scene where I am lining up to kick the ball, I had stepped back and lined myself up in about 5 different ways and chose which one I had liked best to give variation.
